Unsupervised foreign language work in non-linguistic higher school

The introduction of new state educational standards requires greater importance of students’ unsupervised work as a main com-ponent of training in higher school. The number of classroom hours for foreign language learning in non-linguistic higher school is decreasing; the number of hours for students’ unsupervised work is increasing. As a result, the teacher has to rearrange the educational process and to look for new methods of organization of students’ unsupervised work. The article deals with the levels of unsupervised work, the factors that affect its efficiency, and provides certain recommendations for greater efficiency of unsupervised foreign language work.
