Clematis, or clematis (Clematis L). Deciduous plants (there are evergreens) are lianas that rise to support with the help of leaf petioles. In the culture known since the XVI century, but only in the XIX century began their introduction, hybridization and selection. The total number of varieties and varieties reaches 2000. They are often called "kings of climbing plants" in decorative gardening. Valued for fast growth, laciness intense green leaves, the unusual beauty of the flowers of most species and varieties, as well as for their flavor in some varieties and species abundance (up to 500 or more flowers blooming at the same time on one Bush) and duration of flowering (up to 3 months or more). Recommended as highly ornamental plants for various types of gardening. They grow better on well-drained, light loam and sandy loam, well-fertilized soils, respond positively to liming, do not tolerate salinization and waterlogging. They prefer a lighted location, protected from strong winds and slightly shaded during the hot period of the day. Small – flowered species are less demanding to environmental conditions, and larger-flowered species are more demanding.
